I came across one of the open containers, "Åpen løftekasse", on a standard gauge wagon at Sørumsand. So I measured it up, took photos and back home I made a 3D drawing of it . This I sent to Shapeways and it came back as a very good model ready for paint. About the model I can say this: All dimensions are correct to scale except:

The two curved beams on top to hold a tarpaulin I originally made correct as L profile. This came out to fragile, so I altered it to a square shape with same dimension. The top beam around is a U shaped steel profile. I made this an U profile also but changed it to rectangular to make it more robust. The distance between the supports for the floor is a guess, I suspect there are a few to many. Originaly there have been doors, I have not included those since I found no pictures showing doors. The brackets for the door I have modelled as square boxes. They are L shaped on the real "kasse". Ears for lifting in the crane is omitted. If you look with mgnifying glasses ,you will find indentions where you can drill holes and use thin wires for a loop, two on each side.

Color. I have used spray cans from Biltema. One is called Red oxide, the other is a bit more brownish. Se picture.

I have used both. I think the red oxide is very close to the original at Sørumsand. All the steel are greyish black. The interior light warm grey planks.. This was common in Norway up to the 1960ties. If you scroll back to the airfoto, you will see them in the middle of the picture. Here is a cutout of the larger picture:

Last year I started the process of building up to 60 such piles. I use mostly 1mm balsa sheets for the stacked plancks and 0,5mm balsa for the pitched "roof". There are about 500-700 placks in each pile. Today, at the 21st of dec. 2020, I have built 31 piles, but half of them without "roof" because I have no more 0.5mm sheets of balsa. This is the design for the drive unit that will move the wagons on the travers in the "Kassefabrikk". It measures about 25mm cube. Split frame pickup. The brown parts are 3D printed by Shapeways in steel for the weight. The pinkred plates are plastic also printed by Shapeways. The green also plastic by Shapeway. This makes a 3 point compensation for optimal contact and adhesion. To complete is N scale wheels, Exactoscale wormgears and a 6mm gearmotor from Mikroantriebe. To further make it reliable I plan to use a decoder from CT electronic (Tran) and stay alive puffer from Fishermodel.
While most people migled at the nearby beach in the varm sunny summerdays in mid july, I took the opportunity to assemble all the sections of Finstadbru H0e outdoor on the terrasse. For three days and two nights. I was a bit worried of rail buckling in the strong sun, but only a small part by the watertower was affected. probably a week spot anyway, so good to find to be fixed. Rails are code 40 soldered to PCb sleepers. 1 PCB and 3 balsa sleepers gives PCB sleepers ca 3.5cm apart. Works fine. Lenght of rail max 50cm.

I have now finetuned all joints between the sections. I use interscrew nuts and bolts M6. I am now ready to proceed with laying track to the sidings connecting kassefabrikken and later the sawmill to the railway. While having all outdoor in the fine weather, i took the oportunity to take some photos:
Latest progres on the "Kassefabrikk"
I am now on my way to paneling the facades. I use grey carton 0.3mm. I treat the carton with various greys and some silver. Then I fix it with matte clear laquer. I use a cutterguilliotine with a printed scale on the side for uniform width of each panelboard, (about 1,2mm)
This is the chassis for Pryds, a model in H0e scale of one of the UHB locos. To improve performance I have made som parts to make the chassis compensated.

I materialise have 3D printed in High detail stainless steel the box for making the chassis compensated and the driverods with forkshaped joint. The thickness of the rods are 0.3mm These parts came out fine and fits with very little filing. The 3D printed rods are a bit broader than the original as evident in the pic. This is my fault and is not necessary. I will file the 3D printed down.
This is 3D printed parts for a very small and heavy drive unit for moving wagons on the travers. There will be one on each track. The two on the upper left are from I materialise and the two upper right from Shapeways. Material is blackened stainless steel. They have schrinked about 4-5% which gives me problems. Also they are a bit out of square shape. Shapeways are best here. I found the steel to be quite hard and I had problem to cut threads for 1.2mm screws. One solution is to 3D print a larger hole and pressfit a brass tube into it. Then making threads in brass is easykeknorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10545720767763811162noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7855033986940833941.post-50111339064763838442019-04-22T13:11:00.001-07:002019-04-22T13:11:07.357-07:00

In the weekend 17-18 nov. 2018 a Mini Meet was held in Oslo arranged by Hans Henrik Riddervold.
He is the man behind The UHB rolling stock from 1994-96 and later a wast development of american Z zcale through AZL (American Z Line). Participants were Svein Martin Holt , Tor-Jørgen Moskaug (Torsja) from Norway and the german modeller Karl Sinn all with Small Z scale dioramas. Also from Norway Tertittkameratene with their Fremo modules/sections. ( Knut E. Kittelsen and Christer Ritterberg with Stein R. Pünther)
Finstadbru

The work with Finstadbru stasjon and sawmill area is progressing. All the woodwork to the sections are made. All parts are cut after my drawings at a commercial woodworking firm utilising a CNC Mill
It was costly but valuable. Here is two pictures of the test assembly in oktober:
Finstadbru Kassefabrikk (Crate factory)

Referring to the Air photo of Finstadbru , the building is to the left towards bottom. To aid in the constucting of the model I use the air photo (ca 1954), older maps of the area (the footprint) and a photo from Digital Museum At the back in the photo
Thats about all I have, but I think the size and form will be reasonable correct. Another photo in Digital Museum from ca 1955 show the then newly built saw building with a siding for UHB
Sidesporet til C.H.Aanerud sag og høvleri på Finstadbru er ferdig.
This building also shows in the air photo at middle bottom.

This gave me the idea to make a play wit empty and full wagons in and out of the two buildings.
They are about equal in foot print. This will make more interesting trafic in Fremo context.

For each building I reserve a space in the middle that can hold 2x3 bogie flats on a travers with two tracks, one for empties and one for loaded wagons. On the end nearest the siding and connected to it, there will be a room for one wagon, loaded or empty. On the other side some interior vill be visible through openings and windows.

Here is the model of the Kassefabrikk so far:
Mork meieri

Christer wanted this building for a small siding at one of his modules. It is a Funkis inspired building near Mork station on UHB. it was built about 1938. Here is some info of the building:
Mork meieri The building still stands in a somewhat changed form.

So I have used a lot of time to find out how it looked originally and here is the result so far on paper. It is now ready for 3D printing (another heavy task).
Hello all,

Well back from an inspiring Fremo meet in Arendal 19-22 april 2018 we have some pictures and videos to share with you from the H0e Urskog Hoelandsbanen branch. Modules/sections are built by:

Christer Ritterberg; Blingsfoss to Killingmo with curved modules in between stations
Knut E. Kittelsen: Finstadbru and transfer section to Fremo standard with a small bridge on a short incline (50mm on 1.2m). The total lenght of the branchline about 12m

Rolling stock is Christers with Z scale Microtrains couplers operated with hidden uncoupling magnets. Locos are Setskogen (ultramarine/black) and (Prydz black), both equipped with sound, lights and improved pickup by Christer.
Løftekasser (containers) 3D print from Shapeways designed by Knut. (may be offered for sale at Shapeways later this year)

On the planning/construction stage are new sections at Finstadbru (Knut) and two curve modules (Christer.) Further extentions are in our heads.

Here are some impressions
